Fourths gain creditable draw against Loughborough

Last weekend saw the all conquering 4th team match up against the fellow 100% team in the division loughbrough towm 3’s
Having faced some serious selection dilemnas in terms of who to omit from the squad from the previous game skip decided to axe the chairman from the starting 11 for crimes against middle order batting the previous week
Having won the toss and inserted the oppsition Harry Miller struck an early blow by removing one of the openers with only 5 on the board. Unfortunately, inspite of some continued good bowling fron Windy and opening partner Olodge no further breakthrough was gained….either by them or Rob, Blodge and Duncan until a further 180 runs had beeen added for the 2nd wicket……however it is to the teams credit that they stuck manfully to their task in the field and with the ball and never let the experienced opposition batters run away with things. When the breakthrough did eventually come as part of a mammouth 16 over spell from DJ into the wind the guys stepped up their game again and restricted the opposition to 215-8…..probably 50 runs shy of what they were expecting…
When it came to batting a breezy opening partnership of 40 between Bouch and skip was brought to an abrupt halt by poor shot (bouch) and low bounce (skip)….what followed was a terrific effort by the young guns in the batting line up with Loz Joel, Henry , MC Chauhan, Lee Butler, Harry Miller and Olodge all fighting hard to ensure that there was no collapse in spite of an experienced bowling attack which was by far the best we had faced this season….we eventually finished on 170-7 and secured a losing draw, but maintained our unbeaten start to the season.
More importantly, the attitude and application shown by all is a really positive sign that we have a good bunch coming through the famed KCC production line
