Thr unbeaten 4’s welcomed top of the table Loughborough Outwoods to Fleckney Rd on Saturday for what promised to be a tough encounter, and so it proved.
Bowling first, a great performance in the field kept runs to a minimum with some outstanding fielding backing up an outstanding opening spell by Harrison Norton and Ravi Tank
The strength of our bowling attack was emphasised with Chris Carson and Duncan Jones coming on at first change. Jones took a little time to get into his stride following a long lay off but bowled beautifully to finish with 4 wickets.
Harrison contined to impress with his game plan and thinking to finish with 2 wickets, Sam Pounds returned to form with a tidy spell bringing him 1 wicket but the star of the show was Ravi Tank who bowled beautifully for his seasons best 3-25 with great accuracy and control of the swinging ball
The visitors were dismissed for 129 in 32 overs in a fantastic effort from everyone in KCC green and gold.
Any thoughts that the run chase would be a formality were quickly dispelled by the early dismissal of Pedley, Norton and Pounds followed by the enforced retirement of the unlucky Blunt
The ship was steadied by VC Ellwood and Carson who batted well for an important partnership but with 7 down we were still 40 runs short of victory with star bowlers Jones and Tank at the crease.
A mixture of jones’ aggression and Tank’s grace saw us home, emphasising that it was their day and took us to victory and another maximum 24 points against one of our nearest rivals.
Everyone involved can be pleased to have contributed to a fine win which emphasised the strength of belief that we will always find someone to step up and deliver when needed.
Jones and Tank were the stars yesterday but everyone played their part and it was great to give a ebut to Dharshan Tank who netted well through the winter and got his first taste of senior cricket at 13 years old.
