2’s Suffer Batting Collapse

The positive start to the season for the 2’s came unstuck in spectacular fashion against Thorpe Arnold on Saturday at Fleckney Rd.
Unbeaten so far this season the guys were feeling confident of making further strides up the table having bowled the visitors out for  just 138 in just over 39 overs.
Star of the show was “mature seamer” Matt Bashford who forgot about the fact that he lives next door to Cory and delivered terrific KCC best figures of 5/40 from his 12 overs.
The start of our reply was going well with Sam Johnson (pictured above), continuing his fine form when joining Jake Hurley after the early dismissal of John Hanger.  When Johnson departed 3rd out for a top score 37 we had 93 on the board and just 46 were needed for victory and there was no hint of the carnage to follow.
Our last 7 wickets tumbled for just 35 runs and we somehow came up 10 runs short of victory, and whilst there were some questionable umpiring calls this shouldn’t be blamed for the defeat and there needs to be an improvement to get back on track as quickly as possible.
