The poor weather failed to prevent a full weekend of cricket at KCC as our 4 senior teams continued their league campaigns.
The 1st team suffered a losing draw against Leicester Ivanhoe, after performing well in the field to restrict their opponents to 208/7 with Aamir continuing his good form with 3/27. However, we were never really in contention after losing early wickets and despite an unbeaten 50 from Daz Shaw we closed on 167/7.
The 2’s travelled to league leaders Lutterworth and put up a creditable display before losing by 4 wickets. Ben Matthew’s fine form continued as his 45 underpinned 182/8 for stand in skipper Bash’s men. 55 extras did nothing to help our cause in the field but credit goes to the 2 youngsters Ollie Lodge and Monik Patel who bowled well after late call up’s.
The 3’s had a terrible day at the office with stand in skipper Mr Chairman calling wrongly at the toss and it was all downhill from there. Skittled out for just 32 the only bright spot on the horizon was the good spirit showed in the field and the 3 wickets taken by the impressive Jai SIngh
The 4’s maintained winning ways with a comfortable win against Shepshed Messengers with John Pounds smashing 119, supported by brother Dave with 80 and a great bowling spell by nephew Sam who took 4/27 as 2nd place in the league was maintained.
