Senior cricket report 8th & 9th June

The 1’s bounced back to form, and back into Premier League contention on Saturday by destroying Broomleys by 138 runs.  Following an early innings collapse, great innings’ from PJ and Saif were the bedrock of a total of 237/8.  The bowlers then got to work and led by Aamir (3/12) and Biffa (2/8) Broomleys were dismissed for just 99 and a great victory was in the bag.
The good form continued on Sunday in the cup when a great unbeaten 104 from Saif, and a savage 53 off only 18 balls from Aamir contributed to a total of 296/4.  In reply Barkby were dismissed for 155, with Elvis in tune, and leading the way with a 6 wicket haul.
The 2’s hung on for a hard fought losing draw at Cropston, with Matt Bashford taking 4/47 in the field and Vinny and Tej securing the draw at the end.
The 3’s travelled to Wellingborough and dismissed the hosts for 167, with Oliver Lodge (4/36) and Monik Patel (3/47) leading the way.  There were few alarms for the boys whilst batting, aside from a “diplomatic” scare involving FK as he and Greeno’ saw the team home by 7 wickets.  Having checked the rules, FK has since found out that it is in fact illegal not to walk in Northamptonshire if the opposition appeal for a catch, even if you haven’t hit the ball!  Therefore he has issued an official apology for his actions on Saturday…….NOT!!!
The 4’s picked up a big winning draw against Quorn 2’s on the back of a terrific 122 from Dave Pounds in a total of 225/5.  In spite of good spells from Chris Carson and Dunc’ Jones, and 4 wickets for Sam Pounds we couldn’t land the killer blow and Quorn were 9 down at stumps.
