Tim Neal had the pleasure of taking the Under 11b team to play The Langtons on Friday evening as cover for Matt Bashford who was celebrating his son’s birthday.
On a perfect evening, and at one of the most perfect grounds it was a memorable occasion and the game was watched by an excellent crowd who took the opportunity to get the weekend off to a sociable start.
Although the game was strictly 8 a side, we managed to get 9 players and Taylor Blatchford made his competitive cricket debut as a non batting player.
Fielding first Kibworth restricted Langtons to 236 from their 16 overs with bowling figures as follows:-
Libby Howard 2/10, Olly Hillier 1/8, Theo Pemberton 0/19, Thomas Bunce 2/6, Louis Hammond 2/2, Alex Bacon 0/19, George Impey 0/9 and Taylor Blatchford 1/5.
In response Theo (4) and Jake Hibbs (5) got us off to a good start with 9 runs from their 4 overs. Libby (2) and George (3) added 5 for the loss of 1 wicket from their spell before Alex and Louie (7) added a further 7 for the loss of 1 wicket from their 4 overs. Final pair Tom (11) and Oliver (5) added 16 in the final round for the loss of 2 wickets as we finished winners by 18 runs. An excellent game, played in a great spirit and to quote the team afterwards “we beat their candy asses!”
