Tim’s big bike ride

Tim Mason, our Director of Cricket here at KCC is taking part in a charity bike ride in aid of the Tom Maynard Trust and the Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) Benevolant Fund.  Maynard was a cricketer of huge talent, who died suddenly last year when on the verge of international recognition, according to many, and The Tom Maynard Trust will exist initially to help the development of aspiring disadvantaged cricketers and other sportspeople who require support with different aspects of their career development, including bursaries, help with training and education, financial support for overseas placements and assistance with kit and equipment.
The trust is primarily a venture featuring fund raising from Tom’s 2 professional clubs, Surrey and Glamorgan.
The PCA Benevolant Fund is part of the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s commitment to helping current and former players and their dependants in times of hardship and upheaval, or to readjust to the world beyond the game .
This bike ride features 61 riders for 5 days including Marcus Trescothick, Jos Butler and Matt Maynard(Toms dad), and our very own Tim, who as an ex pro cricketer is a member of the PCA.
The route sees the riders depart from Durham CCC on 18th September, from where they will head for  Headingly, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge, Derby, Leicester, Northampton before ending up at Lords on 22nd September, a journey of 450 miles!
