What a weekend at Fleckney Rd, as the first team sealed the Everards Premier Division title with a week to go by thrashing Stoughton and Thurnby. The title was confirmed by the draw up the road between Harborough and Syston.
There was more celebration in the air as the 4’s sealed a second successive promotion by winning a dramatic game against Enderby.
There was more good news in the air as the 3’s recorded an emphatic win against Northampton Saints, a result that gained in significance as word filtered through that long time leaders Great Bowden had been beaten. Some frantic use of the club’s free wi-fi confirmed the reult, with the upshot being that KCC now lie in 2nd place and have promotion in their own hands.
Unfortunately, the 2’s couldnt keep up the party feeling as a bad day at the batting office saw them slip to defeat against Countesthorpe.
After the sore heads of Saturday, there were a few more on Sunday as we hosted the christening of the year for the latest addition to the Cufflin clan, Felix and his cousin Isabelle.
This coming weekend we have the climax to the season with the 2’s entertaining Shepshed, whilst the 3’s go all out for glory against Geddington.
On Saturday night, everyone is welcome for our end of season party (see details elsewhere), whilst on Sunday the traditional Presidents Day will take place. This year Aadil Ali will captain the Chairman’s team featuring the crop of young talent against the President’s Team, captained by Matt Craven. The game is a 30 over contest and will get underway at 1pm.
There may only be one week to go, but there’s still lots to play for and so we hope to see as many of you as possible enjoying some of our famous hospitality.
Finally this week a date for your diary, Saturday 26th October is our annual dinner to be held at the club. Full details in next weeks issue but tickets are £25.00 and will include 3 course dinner, after dinner speaker and dancing.
