The 2’s travelled to Rothley Park buoyed by the previous week’s heroics against Cropston. However, Dave Whitmore’s team were unable to attain the same heights as they went down to a 9 wicket defeat. Batting first, Asif Bhojani (pictured), maintained his fine form at the top of the order as he top scored with 68 in a total of 178. In response, Rothley’s oversea’s player cruised to an unbeaten century as the runs were knocked off in just 21 overs , to compound a bad day at the office.
The 3’s travelled to Stoke Bruerne and bowled them out for 135 in 43 overs with all of the bowlers performing well. Two of the young guns took top honours with Jai Singh taking 4/36 and Oliver Lodge 3/14.
In response, an early wobble which saw Wilko and Henry Simpson gone with just 17 on the board, 42 from Chris Hill steadied the ship before unbeaten 20’s from Steve Thompson and Dave Greenhalgh ensured that the points would be ours with a 5 wicket victory secured in 29 overs.
The Greeno and Gold army remain in 3rd place and have now closed the gap to just 9 points in the hunt for automatic promotion, with 3 games to play.
