Ladies Cricket Arrives @ KCC

Sunday 9th March dawned sunny and warm and it was not too difficult to imagine the start of the cricket season was just around the corner. It was also something of a new dawn for Kibworth as 3pm would see the first ever Kibworth Ladies Cricket session at Crown Hills Community College.
Under the watchful eye of Helen Shipman from the England Academy, and Kibworth’s own Tim Mason, 14 females arrived, eager to learn, train and practice their cricketing skills. This was a great turnout for the first session and the standard of cricket on show proved very impressive too! After warming up by playing hand hockey, Helen organised a number fielding drills and exercises, before moving into some kwik cricket. It was an extremely enjoyable hour, with one participant heading home “very excited” and saying she needed to buy a bat!
The second session, a week later, also proved great fun as fielding, bowling and batting were all worked on. A game of pairs cricket introduced new elements of the sport to those who were there – including ‘calling’ – which proved a little tricky! Again though, the skills on show were extremely impressive and happily everyone is keen to continue. Our next session will take place at Crown Hills again this Sunday (23rd March) at 3pm and everyone is welcome to come along!  Shortly after that we’ll be looking to move outside and train at Kibworth and again would love others to come and join us. All in all, an extremely promising start to this new side and there is plenty more to come.
We are also delighted to announce that Eastwood Interior Contractors have agreed to be main sponsors for the Ladies team and we will shortly have some great Adidas training shirts for the girls and so thanks to Bill and his team for their fantastic support.
