County Cup Glory for U13’s

Kibworth’s U13’s became county cup champions following a one sided triumph over Thorpe Arnold at Fleckney Rd on Sunday as witnessed by our intrepid hack Steve Bellamy………………………

……after winning the toss our North Leicestershire visitors surprisingly chose to bat first. After soon realising that bowling a full length on a slow track was the way forward Ed Wall ( 2-11 ) & Jack Bellamy ( 2-14 ) struck early blows to apply early pressure.
As in previous rounds Harry Pounds ( 1-20 ), the metronomic Harry Jones ( 2-13 ) and another lively spell from Ben O’Boyle ( 0-10 ) made runs seem like a Luis Suarez snack…………….rare!.
Once again KIbworth’s fielding & catching was excellent, this resulted with Thorpe Arnold closing on a below par 74-7 after their allotted 20 overs.
As in the semi-final, run machine Jack Houlihan ( 31, retired ) & Ben O’Boyle ( 24 n.o. ) never let the bowlers settle, both hit the ropes regularly and ran positively to put the boys on the brink of victory.
Seth Brown, coming in at No3 with a new bat, tested out the middle and promptly hit his second ball for a huge 6 !
The 10 wicket victory was achieved after 8.2 overs. Both coaches ( Ian & Steve ) would like to take this opportunity to thank all players for their hard work and dedication in becoming cup champions. Also a huge thanks goes to the parents for their help and support once again. Next stop Cambridgeshire in the nationals !
