Matt Craven’s 1’s got back to winning ways with a comfortable win at Broomleys.
Daz Shaw took bowling honours with 3/7 as the hosts were dismissed for 127.
In response a good opening partnership between the skip and Fabian ensured that there was no threat of an upset. There was a middle order wobble which saw the dismissals of Aadil for a dic and Daz for 8 (the first time he has scored less than 50 for 9 years), but all was good in the end.
The 2’s scored a welcome win against Stoughton band Thurnby, who somehow managed to post a total of 169 in their innings.
In response half centuries from Bhavik and the skip, and cameo’s from Aamir and Fido ensured a swift victory which was sealed following a running masterclass between FK and Aamir before the former need matters with a 6.
The 3’s were defeated by Old Northamptonians by 3 wickets although there were some positives to take from the game.
Ben Lodge took 4 wickers and with the bat Lee Butler continues to flourish with a top scoring 40, whilst Mahang is proving a classy top order batsman as he recorded 26..
The 4’s took a draw from their game with Ratby, which saw Tom sellicks join the ranks of juniors making their senior debuts as he impressed with both bat and ball.
Lewis Scott shared the bowling honours with the chairman as he recorded his first senior wickets with 4/32 in a terrific spell.
With the bat there was more junior potential on display as Jack Houlihan scored his maiden senior 50. Whilst we do not condone under age drinking at KCC we couldn’t let the moment pass without fleecing his dad Noel to get a jug in on his son’s behalf so that the elder members of the team could toast his achievement!
