League victory but cup defeat for 1st’s

Skipper Matt Craven and newly married Sunny inspired the 1′s to a weather affected win at Fleckney Rd on Saturday….. batting first Kegworth were restricted to 120/9 off a reduced 30 overs with Aadil (3/13), Bash (2/16) and Jacko (2/15) all returning great figures after a promising start from the visitors.
In response Craven and Sunny both recorded unbeaten half centuries as the victory target was reached in 18 overs.
On the League Cup final at Hinckley on Sunday, a strong start and finish to the Loughborough innings saw them set a total of 220 for victory from 40 overs.
In response, the early dismissals of Aadil and Fabian was temporarily forgotten as skipper Craven and the majestic Daz ticked along at 8 an over without braking sweat and there was only a solitary, non playing voice that could be heard from the Loughborough contingent.
Unfortunately then the skipper got himself caught and stumped and in spite of a brief cameo from Monik there was too much on the shoulders of even Daz and the lads fell well short.
A disappointing result, and a game where there were a number of key moments when we didn’t take advantage but all focus now on to the league challenge and on catching Loughborough in that competition as we approach the business end of the season.

The 2′s returned from Ashby with a winning draw where 170/9 set by us was responded with 168/9 by our hosts!

The 3′s returned with another defeat from Irchester, where Mahang Patel’s 40 was the only highlight in an innings of 107 all out after 40 overs.
In response the lads did manage to take 6 victims before the total was reached with 28 overs gone. Chris Hill took 3/33 and Dave Pounds 2/4 from 4 overs as the pick of our attack.
