A fantastic bowling performance put the 1′s in a commanding position at half way in their top of the table clash at Lougborough on Saturday…… batting first, the hosts were restricted to 179 All Out as the boys ensured maximum bowling points. Luke Evans was the pick of the bowlers for the 2nd week running as he returned 3/37, including the prize wicket of Tom Wells.
In response a late innings wobble almost saw defeat snatched from the jaws of victory until the steadying influences of Bash and Spiro saw us home with an over to spare.
A great win and the gap now closed to 7 points with 4 matches to play.
The 3′s travelled to table toppers S&M Corby (!) and when they were skittled out for just 69 things looked bleak. The skipper played his part with an unbeaten top scoring and fluent 29.
However, the bowlers fancied a crack on a ‘challenging’ track and boy did they respond!
The leaders were bowled out for just 56 in 27 overs with fit again Whitty leading the way with 5/25 and well backed up by Jony Butler (4/19) and Chilli (1/12), to record a comfortable 30 point 13 run victory!
There was more good news as the result lifted they boys out of the bottom 2.
The 4′s racked up 257/4 declared at Croft, where half of Dave Greenhalgh (pictured) scored 112. He was well backed up by John Pounds (79) and Sam Pounds (26*).
In response, great bowling by the youngsters Ed, Harry and Lewis ensured wickets fell regularly.
However, some lower order savagery threatened to ruin the party before Sam and Ed wrapped up the tail for a 30 point win that gives renewed hope of survival.
The 2′s strolled to victory at home to Kirby Muxloe, with Aamir taking 4/18 as the visitors stumbled to 118 all out.
Therewere no alarms in reply with Peely and Aamir steering the lads to a 6 wicket victory in double quick time.
