After just two games our fourth team is languishing at the bottom end of division 5 but there were many positive signs in the game against a Market Harborough second XI. The return of batsman/keeper “Windy” Miller coincided with a dearth of bowlers and so he generously took one for the team and also took the new ball. Thanks Windy a great example to us all!
A delayed arrival meant Under 15 Shabban bowled just 6 overs but he and Lewis Scott showed once again that we have a great pipeline of talented juniors at KCC. We bowled tidily but without any real threat and were set a target of 201.
We lost some time to rain which we were informed meant anything less than 156 in 39 overs was a losing draw. Above 156 and less than 201 was a winning draw. If we got 202 we won but if we got 156 and then lost all our wickets we would lose. We decided to bat for a bit and see what happened!!
This allowed us to promote young Josh Moore to the opening partnership and he and the evergreen John Pounds added 80 odd for the first wicket with a best ever senior score of 35 for Josh.
A great platform but in the end we fell short of the 156 and had to settle for a losing draw but a very encouraging performance and as usual played in the right spirit.
