Firsts begin with comfortable wins

A century from opener Sunny Patel was the mainstay of a comfortable run chase as the first team overhauled Earl Shilton’s total of 189 on Saturday afternoon with nearly 20 overs to spare. PJ scored 52* and shared an unbeaten century partnership with Sunny that saw KCC to a nine wicket win. Luke Evans with 4-19 took the bowling honours claiming all four victims in a six ball spell .

There were also victories for the Second team at Broomleys where Kieran Wordsworth got off to a flyer with a classy 75 and for the Third’s at home to Countesthorpe where Dave Greenhalgh contributed 60. The Fourth team were easily beaten by Bharat Sports after being bowled out for 63.

National cup win sets up Banbury tie

KCC will travel to Banbury in the National Cup second round on May 8th after beating visitors Finedon Dolben on Sunday. Sunny Patel’s second unbeaten century in as many days helped see Matt Cravens team to a seven wicket victory after the Northants side had made 222-8 from their 45 overs. Russell Spiers took 4-34 from his nine overs and Craven himself made 50.

Finedon Dolben 222/8 ( Spiro 4/34) v Kibworth 1st XI 223/3 ( Sunny Patel 103*, Craves 50) – Kibworth 1st XI won by 7 Wickets

We have a point to prove at Banbury having lost narrowly in the equivalent fixture a couple of years ago. The game starts at 1pm and if there is sufficient interest the club will organise a bus/mini bus. If you would like to come let Abbo or Chairman know.
