Last Friday saw the start of the season for the younger boys and girls in what can only be described as some of the coldest conditions cricket has ever been played in South Leicestershire! However, though the conditions were slightly on the arctic side it was great to see so many boys and girls enjoying their cricket even if some of the viewing parents did need some serious thawing out in the bar afterwards!!
The Kwiks this season are being coached on Friday nights by Simon Ward and Kaushal Bhavarda. Their season started with mixed fortunes as both A and B teams won one and lost one. One of the highlights being Charlie Holmes narrowly missing out on a debut hatrick! On Bank Holiday Monday a great all round performance saw Kibworth defeat Countesthorpe in the final to become Kibworth Village Sports Day Champions!
Friday night also saw the start of the season for both the Under 11 hardball teams. The A’s played at home against a very strong CCA team, and with a man down did well to almost sneak a victory but eventually lost by just 5 runs. Some impressive pace bowling from Will Long and Felix Mauger kept CCA under pressure after Ollie Mason and Benny Bashford has scored some crucial runs with the bat.
The Under 11 B’s started off their season just down the road at Langtons and were unlucky to lose despite some very impressive performances from boys having their first taste of hardball cricket.
