Under 11 reports

Under 11 A’s
Not far away over at Dunton Bassett the Under 11 As  were due to play. They left Kibworth in the pouring rain, only to find 10 miles down the road, a bright and sunny corner of Leicestershire!! In the absence of Sunny the team on the night were coached by Ed, and with Ellis Hanger still suffering with a foot injury the captain for the night was Ollie Mason. Kibworth won the toss and opted to bat first. For the first time this season all the batting pairs fired and Kibworth posted a very competitive total, with some excellent performances from Ollie Mason, Benny Bashford and Karishma Nathwani. However, in the field the team did not fare so well. With a greasy ball (there were a couple of shorts showers) and some poor fielding the team looked a little bit off their game. Though they still won comfortably it was not their finest hour and there are lots to work on in the coming weeks and months.

Under 11 Incrediball
The Under 11 Incrediball made the short trip down the road to play the Langton’s in another development game on Sunday. It was a chance for some of the less experienced players to have a game including Ollie Payne making his debut and Tom Harbidge making only his second start. And what a game it was! Both teams have made huge strides this season, especially in the bowling department, and this led to a low scoring thriller! Kibworth batted first and though they did well, could only manage one boundary courtesy of excellent pull shot from Felix Munden. This meant Langton’s were chasing a modest 239, but due to some excellent bowling and fielding from the Kibworth boys it boiled down to Langton’s needing 2 off the last ball to win. However, the Langton’s held their nerve, crashing a boundary off the last ball. This was a great game of cricket, enjoyed by all and gave the boys some invaluable experience of playing in a closely contested game.

Massive thanks must go the Langton’s and Chris Clapham for hosting these development games. The boys are always made to feel so welcome and get some excellent advice from Chris, who is an excellent coach.
