It is with great sadness that we inform club members of the death of our President Bob Gilson. Bob passed away after a short illness and is survived by his wife Gloria.
He was a stalwart of the club for some 50 years: as a player, chairman and then, for almost 20 years, as our President. He was a key member of the small team that orchestrated the move to our new ground and during his term as President he was an active member of the clubs management committee offering sage advice and acting as the clubs moral compass.
The players will wear black arm bands and observe a minutes silence before the start of the games this Saturday and it would be nice to see club members joining this short ceremony. It is hoped that when we return to more normal times we will have the chance to stage a memorial game and celebration to properly recognise the contribution Bob has made to our wonderful club.
Details of the funeral have yet to be confirmed but in line with Government guidelines numbers will be restricted and attendance is likely to be by invitation only.
Gloria has been supported by family, neighbours and KCC members through this period and is now spending time in quiet reflection. We think it better that she does not receive too many phone calls but we are sure she would appreciate cards and messages of condolence.
We will send out a further note in due course.
With deepest sadness, rest in peace Bob.
