Langtons cruise to victory in local derby

Kibworth Under 11 A's made the short journey to the beautiful setting of Langtons cricket ground in a confident mood after last weeks excellent win over Great Glen. Skipper Oliver Stone lost the toss and the Langtons opted to bat first. The Langtons made steady progress and crucially only lost four wickets and posted a score of 260 off their 16 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Arnav and Jake who were both very tight and unlucky not to pick up a couple of wickets. Overall the fielding was pretty sharp but a couple of dropped catches could have proved crucial if the end result had been a little tighter.
What happened over the next 16 overs is every coaches nightmare! The team proceeded to lose 14 wickets in all kinds of manner which made the run chase almost impossible. Only Jake with 14 runs managed to complete his innings without giving his wicket away. Kibworth ended on 213, so someway off the pace. However, if they had lost the same number of wickets as their hosts they would have had a very exciting finish!
So overall a disappointing night for the U11 A's but the positives that can be taking from the evening is their continued improvement with their bowling and fielding but some serious batting practise in the nets is required before this Fridays final cup match away agains CCA B!
